Very beneficial course
I always renewed with an examiner.  The FIRC was very beneficial because of the knowledge review.  The broad spectrum of subjects keeps things interesting and makes for a better all around flight review.  I don't instruct full time and mostly perform flight reviews or aviation presentations at middle schools.  The course is good for someone not instructing every day also.

Great Essential IFR Overview
