We are seeking a part-time HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist to join our team at King Schools. This is a hybrid role located in San Diego, CA, with flexibility for some remote work. The HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist will be responsible for a variety of human resources and payroll tasks, including but not limited to employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, payroll processing, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Human Resources:
- Provide onboarding and offboarding support for new and departing employees.
- Assist with employee relations, including answering questions, resolving issues, and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Coordinate benefits administration, ensuring smooth enrollment, updates, changes and claim processing.
- Support performance management processes.
- Develop and implement HR initiatives aligned with company goals.
- Ability to practice discretion and maintain strict confidentiality and security of personnel files and information.
- Payroll:
- Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Manage payroll deductions and taxes.
- Analyze payroll data and generate reports.
- Liaise with payroll vendors and external agencies.
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in HR and payroll, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly accurate.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must reside in San Diego or willing to relocate to the San Diego area.

Course Writer / Aviation SME
King Schools is looking for a passionate aviation educator to join our team as a Course Writer and Aviation Subject Matter Expert (SME) in San Diego, California. The ideal candidate would be an experienced certificated flight instructor (CFI), have the ability to clarify, simplify and make learning fun, and be passionate about educating the next generation of pilots. At King Schools, we provide academic training for pilot qualifications at all levels from new pilots to corporate jet pilots and airline captains.
The successful applicant will be responsible for working with our video team to produce scripts on required aviation training topics. The scripts will be used to create King Schools aviation related instructional videos and other course materials.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) source documents
- Maintaining awareness of aviation developments particularly those involving General Aviation
- Develop script content that meets the FAA training requirements
- Write studio scripts for video courses
- Ensure accuracy of material presented as a subject matter expert (SME)
- Review and approve video lessons after studio production
- Responsible for large, long-term development projects at the direction of management
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- FAA Certificated Flight Instructor
- Active involvement in General Aviation
- Demonstrated writing skills
- Proficient in MS Office Word and Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to convert regulatory language to easily understandable vocabulary
- Ability to simplify, clarify and make learning fun
