King Schools has helped thousands of A & P Mechanics in the United States obtain their A&P Certifications.

  1. Is this course right for me?
This course contains all the academic knowledge to prepare you for the three required knowledge exams: General, Airframe and Powerplant. Additionally, you will have access to the King Schools Test Prep, providing FAA-style general test questions with detailed step-by-step explanations. Finally, you will have access to a practical task log, where you are able to log your training under the direction of an A&P. To complete this course, you will need to work under the direction of a FAA certificated A&P, in an Aviation Maintenance Training School, or within a maintenance facility.
  2. Can you help explain Part 147?
Part 147 is a term that you will encounter at an FAA approved Aviation Maintenance Training School (AMTS). This is where a school has gained FAA approval for their maintenance training program. Students will be internally evaluated on their oral knowledge and practical tasks. Part 147 schools can approve their students to take their FAA knowledge exams, and practical tests. This course and curriculum can be approved by the FAA for use by an AMTS.
  3. Can you help explain OJT?
OJT is a process to achieve a Mechanics Certificate where a student is working very much like an independent contractor. The student can complete this King Schools curriculum, and log 18 months or 30 months of training under the direction of an A&P who signs off each task completed. Once the student has completed the course and all practical hands-on tasks, they schedule an appointment with their local FSDO office to obtain testing authorization for their knowledge and practical exam.
  4. What are the system requirements for this course?
Online course media requires a PC or Mac computer with a broadband Internet connection.
  5. Can I use my smartphone to view the course materials?
Your course is compatible with the web browser on your Apple or Android device. In addition, the free King Schools Companion App allows you to view your online course(s) on an iPad or iPhone when not connected to the Internet. The free app is available through the iTunes App Store by searching for "King Schools Companion."
  6. Are the courses current?
KING courses are up-to date with the latest information and subjects areas the FAA wants you to know. KING online courses contain FAA-style questions which are representative of all the subject areas the FAA tests.
Warning: You can’t just memorize test questions and expect to pass your FAA A&P Written Test. Why? The FAA used to make their test question banks publicly available; however, they have not done so for many years. In fact, the FAA has recently gone through their entire database and changed every single test question and answer in order to eliminate test question memorization. No one, including test prep educators, has access to the FAA question banks. To pass your required tests, there is no shortcut. You must acquire the necessary A&P knowledge.

Online Course Media - Your online course is always up-to-date as the course is automatically updated whenever changes occur.

  7. Is there a particular order to follow? Are some lessons easier than others?
The recommended course order is 1. General, 2. Airframe and 3. Powerplant.
  8. How much time will it take to complete the course?
