Passed my private pilot checkride just yesterday and received lots of positive comments from my DPE. I give the King course great credit for my success by demonstrating a very realistic new-ACS practical test. The goal of the FAA here is to explore your fund of knowledge through scenarios and questions in a more conversational testing manner. As my DPE said at the outset - I want to understand your thought processes ... as well as your fund of knowledge. (He noticed I made a 97 on the knowledge test - and that my endorsement was from King Schools. i caught a slight smile). The same approach in the air - show me by what you say and do that you are a safe and thinking pilot with good skills. It was good to know that I wasn't expected to be, as John frequently says, a "Super Pilot". No question both these courses gave me the fundamental knowledge and the proper mind-set to breeze through both the knowledge and practical tests. Yesterday I passed my check ride and had a great time with great preparation and a great DPE - this afternoon I'm ordering my King Schools Instrument course! I'm sold.
