Martha and John: thank you so much for sharing your flying experience. It's humbling to hear from both of you what you have gone through and still alive to share so others might avoid the same mistakes. I've personally developed the habit of doing a PAVE and IMSAFE checklist prior to every flight. I even do it before flying in a simulator! I am glad you shared about CARE. Somehow I must have missed that on the PPL syllabus. I am incorporating that into my checklists today.

This was a great review of nav systems, but needs updating to the newer GA systems available. FMS is no longer just for the airlines. The latest glass systems have all that and more.
