Also a 4 out of 4. I appreciate this particular website because I’ve learned so much little things you sometimes don’t have time to go over with an instructor. And the fact that it’s gone on for so long is impressive.

I have used the king instructional video series all the way from the private pilot level, they are great and allow you to walk into the test feeling prepared. Study hard and get comfortable teaching!Chris

Easy to follow

The video was produced in 1994 and it's now 2020 as I write this. The checkride oral exam seemed light on the fundamentals of instruction.  There were times when the scene would cut away to a "later-version" of John (several years later, but in the same shirt in front of a blue screen depicting the hangar space used for the oral exam) expounding upon an answer given to the DPE.  John seemed to revert into teaching mode instead of CFI applicant mode which made for a VERY distracting segment as if the viewer wouldn't notice the change.  I didn't appreciate the production trying to "fix" a shortfall in the original video and gives weight to the need of updating the entire experience.  The flight portions seemed to flow well, but it would have been nice to see a few more maneuvers than the basic minimum.  If you've watched the commercial check ride with Martha, this will be a step down in production quality, completeness and recency.

This course is basic, fundamental training in Risk Management for pilots that contains great wisdom and reflections on pilot characteristics in general, including some proclivity to minimize the recognition, evaluation and management of risk.  The RM tools recommended for preflight risk assessment and management and risk "scanning" and management in flight are wise, useful and should become routine components of our flight operations.

History of navigation equipment and cockpit use.  Could use another section with modern GPS units and better displays of MFD and flight computers to be current.  Overall good course.
